Blue lagoon Dudu

Near the town of Cabrera 700-meter-long cave system with a clear blue lagoon Dudu is located. According to the legend, this place is named after the Taine Chief – Dudu, who lived in local caves. According to another theory, it had been doubted (in Spanish “dudaba”) for a long time about the deep of the lagoon, whose name was later derived – Dudu. It is certain, however, that a lagoon  has been created by the fall of the cave. Thanks to this fact the turquoise water of Dudu Lagoon attracts speleo divers fans (dives in caves) since 1993.

Dudu Lagoon consists of two freshwater lakes, connected by several tunnels, the longest one is 80 meters long. This is what makes Dudu according to local people a unique place in the world where two natural lakes can be explored at once. If you have a diving certificate don’t miss the chance to explore this lagoon from the water and enjoy 45 min of underwater excurtion. Those who still like adventure but do not want to dive can try ziplines – adrenaline jumps into water from ropes hanging on trees and those who prefer just to rest can relax in the Pozo de los Caballos spa, which is close to the lagoon. Not far from Cabrera – in Rio San Juan there is another freshwater lagoon called- Gri Gri. Water in Gri Gri is not so clear but visitors can take a boat ride and explore a unique mangrove forest ecosystem full of different bird species. The Gri Gri is lined by the famous Caletón beach. Another point of interest we woul dlike to mention is the Swallow Cave with it’s numerous stalactites and stalagmites.
