Punta Cana and Bávaro

This purely tourist area is located on the eastern coast of the Dominican Republic and is made up of several dozen large hotel complexes and tourist shopping malls.

Over 30km long strip of snow-white fine sand with lot of palm trees this all lined by turquoise blue Caribbean sea – this is Bavara – the beach of Punta Cana and definitely one of the most beautiful beach in the world.

Around the beach you can find many casinos, entertainment facilities as well as golf courses. To people with kids we can recommend local amusement park – Manati with a minizoo and botanical garden. A great attraction is also a sightseeing flight with a helicopter across the area. If you decide to spend your holidays in Dominican Republic in Punta Cana, you will probably arrive to the airport of the same name located just a few dozen minutes from the hotel complexes.

The disadvantage of this area is the relatively large distance from Santo Domingo and a bit of isolation from the surrounding real “Dominican world”.

In the vicinity of the resorts there is practically only tropical jungle and there is no possibility to take walks to the surroundings. Nevertheless if you decide to spend your holiday here you will spend it in one of the most beautiful Caribbean beaches.

Las Terrenas is a popular tourist resort in the province of Samana, located in the northeast of the Dominican Republic. Originally, it was a small fishing village, but since the 1990s it has became international tourist area with many hotels, restaurants, discos, diving schools and a wide range of tourist facilities.

Despite it, this town has retained a pleasant original atmosphere. The development of the city (fortunately) is somewhat impeded due the remoteness from other cities. More recently, they were available only two provincial roads from Sánchez or Samana leading to this city. From November 2006, the area is better accessible thanks to the international airport near Sanchez and because of new highway (autopista) from Santo Domingo, which shorted the travel time significantly.

In the past, the city was visited almost exclusively by foreigners but with the time situation has changed. Today, Dominicans themselves, especially those from the capital of Santo Domingo, travel here. Local and foreign entrepreneurs are reacting to this trend and build new hotels and holiday apartments.

Thanks to the strict construction regulations none of new buildings can be build higher than the surrounding palm trees. In this way the new buildings will not disturb the overall traditional appearance of the city. In Las Terrenas you will not find any large hotel complexes, the closest is about five kilometers far away.

Currently, the city is a real international city. Over the past twenty years, thousands of people from the US, Canada and Europe have settled here. Thanks to the expacts coming from all around the world, many restaurants with international cuisine, from beach bars to luxury restaurants appeared to the south of Las Terrenas is the Los Haises National Park.

The city of Las Terrenas is well-equipped for tourists – here you will find all the necessary facilities. You can stay in luxury hotels offering all-inclusive programs as well as in villas right on the beach. The whole area is surrounded by the magical untouched nature that will fascinate everyone. If you  decide for holiday in Las Terrenas we are sure you will feel relaxed and you will find the peace of mind. At the same time, there are plenty of opportunities to have fun day and night.

About 15 km from Las Terrenas lies the small village of El Limón, famous for its beautiful waterfalls. The road to the waterfall is not perfect, but they are working on its reconstruction.
