Isla Saona – an uninhabited island with kitsch beaches, which is located in the Parque National del Este National Park. Isla Saona is the epitome of paradise that most tourists dream of before traveling to the Dominican Republic.

Here you can see colorful corals, red starfish and huge shells, as is known from American animated movies. You will be still fascinated in after an hour spent watching this beautiful sceneries…

The 25 km long and five kilometer wide Saona Island can be reached by a catamaran or motorboat from the fishing village of Bayahibe. The village is very deserted, and it only comes to life when buses full of tourists heading for Isla Saona arrive.

The trip to Isla Saona is undoubtedly one of the most popular day trips you can go to. Every day, the island is visited by up to a thousand tourists. You will be surprised but the sea has actually even better colors than on the posters.

Isla Saona has been a holiday island for ages. Back in the sixteenth century, Spanish sailors were coming here – to this paradise island to relax.

Recommendation:

If you do not want to be whole day surrounded by hundreds of tourists head out to Bayahibe on your own and schedule your way to Isla Saona right on the place. Do not forget to bargain. The bargaining is in the Dominican Republic more than common.
